The IT-1, the Soviet missile tank 1:35 (Trumpeter), is a plastic kit of the unusual tank armed with anti-tank guided missiles instead of a conventional gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter captures the Soviet IT-1 missile tank. The richly broken-up kit holds parts on a number of sprues, a photo-etched part for the engine grille and individual track links. The model builds a hull derived from the T-62 tank with a turret that has no conventional gun but an extending launcher rail for guided missiles.
The IT-1 (the abbreviation stands for tank destroyer) was a Cold War Soviet attempt to replace the conventional tank gun with anti-tank guided missiles. It grew out of the hull of the T-62 tank and launched 3M7 Drakon missiles from an extending rail that retracted back into the turret after firing. It was in service only briefly, from 1968 to 1970. In practice it proved impractical: it could not hit close targets and carried few missiles, so the machines were in the end rebuilt into recovery vehicles.
Assemble the running gear and the individual track links first, then the hull and the turret with its launcher rail. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic. Spray the base coat on and lay the paint, Soviet green, on with an airbrush. You will bring the engraved detail to life with a dark wash, the edges with dry-brushing, and the dust and mud on the chassis with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
