An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-1S heavy tank in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the lightened variant of the famous KV-1 with a new, smaller cast turret. The package holds parts in hard plastic on sprues and rubber tracks; check the exact number of parts and the extent of the markings for the particular item.
The KV-1S, the S from the Russian skorostnyj, that is fast, came about at the end of 1942 as a response to the unwieldiness of the original KV-1. The designers lowered the weight, thinned the armor and gave the vehicle a new, lighter cast turret and a reworked rear hull, which improved its speed and the reliability of its transmission. The armament was a 76 mm gun. The tank was committed on the Eastern Front and became a transitional type toward the later KV-85 and IS series.
First assemble and paint the running gear, the wheels, rollers and tracks, and the interior of those spaces that will be lost once the hull is closed. Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. After spraying the base color and the varnish under the decals, bring out the detail with a dark wash and add mud and dust effects in pigment to the lower areas and the running gear, so that the vehicle looks convincingly worn.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
