A propeller sled is a means of transport for snow-covered and frozen terrain: an enclosed body rests on skis and is driven by an aircraft engine with a propeller placed at the rear, which pushes the machine forward. Where neither wheeled nor tracked vehicles can get through, propeller sleds moved quickly and lightly, and that is why the Red Army reached for them in the winter months. They served for communication between units, for patrol duty, for carrying materiel and for taking the wounded away. The designation NKL-6 belongs to the line of Soviet propeller sleds built for military use.
It is a plastic kit in 1:35 scale, that is in the most widespread scale for military vehicles. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and goes well with figures and accessories in the same scale. The extent of the parts and the assembly procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts off with a sharp blade, clean them up and glue them with cement for plastic. The propeller and its mounting are the most fragile part of the model, so leave them until the end of the build, so as not to catch them while handling it. Wash and degrease the model before painting. A winter scene suits restrained work with dirt: on the skis and the underside it is rather a damp sheen and clinging snow that gather than the dust with which vehicles are soiled in summer.
Paints, glue, thinner and figures are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
