An injection-molded plastic kit of the experimental Soviet Object 279 heavy tank from Hobby Boss in 1:35 scale. The set is rich in parts and holds photo-etched parts and individual track links. Its unmistakable look comes from the disc-shaped hull and the four tracks.
Object 279 was a Soviet experimental heavy tank of the late 1950s. Its flattened, disc-shaped hull was to deflect the blast wave of a nuclear explosion and, together with the four tracks, to give it mobility in heavy terrain and in marshes. Only a few prototypes were built; the vehicle never reached production, yet it ranks among the most iconic prototype tanks of the Cold War.
Building the individual track links is laborious: it pays to prepare and paint them separately. Finish the running gear before clear coating. Unify the Soviet green with a filter, pick the depths of the disc-shaped hull out with a wash and wipe the edges gently; weather the underside and the tracks with pigments. The unusual shape comes out even with restrained weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
