An injection-molded plastic kit of the T-72 Ural main battle tank in the version fitted with Kontakt-1 reactive armor. The Trumpeter model offers a finely rendered hull and turret, sets of reactive armor blocks and running gear detail. The package usually holds metal wire and basic photo-etched parts; the tracks are in sections and are glued together.
The T-72 is a Soviet medium main battle tank brought into service in 1973. It is marked out by a cast turret with a low silhouette, a 125 mm gun with an autoloader and sloped frontal armor. The Kontakt-1 reactive armor kit was mounted on both turret and hull and markedly raised its resistance to shaped-charge ammunition. The tank became one of the most widespread armored vehicles of the second half of the 20th century.
Finish the running gear and the lower part of the hull first and only then close up the superstructures. Glue the reactive armor blocks with liquid polystyrene cement and take care over their exact placement. For a faithful look use a primer, an airbrush and a final weathering pass with a wash and pigments, which bring out the mud and dust effects on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
