Photo-etched parts for a model of the T-72M tank in 1:35 scale from the Czech firm Eduard. Photo-etch adds the thin sheet-metal parts to a model that an injection mold can never render in the right thickness.
Responsibility details are not available.
Tanks look sturdy at first sight, but it is exactly on them that the thickness of small parts decides how convincing a model is. Fenders, the grilles over the engine, brackets and tool holders are made of thin sheet metal in reality; in 1:35 scale the matching thickness would be a fraction of a tenth of a millimeter, which cannot be drawn out of a mold. This Eduard photo-etched set replaces such areas of the model of the T-72M main battle tank with brass sheet.
It is not a model of the tank
The set serves as an accessory for a plastic kit, and the vehicle itself has to be at hand.
The T-72 was a main battle tank of Soviet design which from the 1970s replaced older types and became the most widespread tank of the Eastern bloc. It combined a 125 mm gun with an autoloader, thanks to which a crew of three was enough, with a low silhouette. The M designation was carried by the export version intended for allies; it was also built under license outside the Soviet Union, among others in Czechoslovakia and Poland, and its equipment differed in details from the machines of the Soviet army. That is exactly why it pays to compare the particular vehicle with documentation when building a model.
Separate the photo-etched parts on a hard surface with a sharp knife and put them aside at once so that they do not get lost. Shape the fenders before gluing; on vehicles it is also convincing to add bends and dents from service to them. Glue with super glue, degrease the areas before painting and prime them. At the end both the photo-etch and the castings come into their own under a layer of dust and mud from pigments, which on Eastern bloc vehicles is applied mainly to the running gear and the lower parts of the hull.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model of the vehicle.
