Eighty-two Soviet propaganda posters from the war years, reduced to a size suitable for dioramas in 1:35 scale.

The Soviet wartime poster was created literally overnight. Artists gathered around the satirical window posters printed individual sheets through stencils and hung them in shop windows, at railway stations and on factory gates before the newspapers could catch up. Artistically it was a very recognizable style: a dominant red, a sharp caricature of the enemy, a raised arm and a slogan broken into large capitals. The design of the motherland calling her sons to arms became one of the best-known images of the whole conflict. Stencil printing could moreover turn out several dozen copies a day, and that entirely without a printing press.
Inside you will find eighty-two designs converted to a size matching 1:35 scale. The goods are printed on paper and behave like paper, that is they are cut, folded and glued. In material terms they therefore stand apart from decals released with water and apart from photo-etched scene accessories. Keeping the text legible after reduction is crucial with goods like these and decides whether a viewer can make the detail out in a scene at all.
For a builder of the Eastern Front it is an easy way to give a scene period atmosphere without a single further casting, because a paper detail carries more information than another figure. It does pay, though, to choose a smaller number of designs and to place them irregularly, otherwise the wall looks as if it were covered in wallpaper.
