Paint Forge Oval Stencils M – a universal stencil with ovals

It is a universal airbrush stencil from the brand Paint Forge out of the Stencils range. It carries an oval motif and is supplied in size M, to which according to the name a sheet of 14 x 9.8 cm corresponds. It is not a mask cut to the outline of one particular kit but a freely usable pattern. That is how it differs from masks for models: you are not buying the shape of one aircraft or vehicle but a motif that you place yourself where you need it. Paint Forge also runs the same motif in the larger size L, so you can choose according to how large an area you want to cover at once.

Use

• Lay the stencil on a dry and degreased surface and hold it or fix it with masking tape, so that no paint gets under it.
• Spray perpendicular from above, at a low pressure and in thin coats. One heavy coat will seep under the edge and the pattern will be smudged.
• Let the paint set between coats. You thus build up cover gradually and the edge stays sharp.
• An oval can be used as a solid shape and as a repeated grid. Shifting the stencil over an area gives a regular band, turning it ninety degrees a different rhythm of the pattern.
• Once you finish spraying, wipe the stencil at once, before the paint has dried on it. A dried layer on the edge of the motif spoils the crispness at the next use.

Who the stencil is for

It suits a modeler who wants to get a regular geometric pattern onto a model, a figure or a diorama and does not want to cut it laboriously out of masking tape. It works with science-fiction and fantasy subjects, with lettering and markings, with the finishes of hardware and with bases and scenery. Size M is practical for smaller areas and for models in finer scales, where a large sheet would get in the way.

It is an aid for painting, not a kit. Paints, an airbrush and masking tape are not included in the package. Ventilate while spraying and protect your airways.
