1:35 Staghound accessories set

The accessory set 1:35 Staghound accessories set

This is an accessory set in 1:35 scale for a model of the Staghound armored car. It is not a model of the vehicle but a set of parts meant for completing an already finished model: kit, stowage and the small things the crews carried on the real machines. Black Dog makes one more set for the Staghound, with the Big designation. They are two separate sets, so compare the manufacturer's details for both before buying.

The real subject

The Staghound, with its original American designation T17E1, was a heavy four-wheeled armored car. It came about in the United States, but the American army did not bring it into service and practically the whole production went to British and other Allied units. The vehicle carried a 37 mm gun in the turret, was powered by a pair of gasoline engines and offered great range by the standards of the time. It served mainly with reconnaissance formations in Italy, in northwestern Europe and in the Balkans, and after the war with a number of armies outside Europe for a long time yet.

How to make use of the set

Reconnaissance cars went about loaded with personal kit, tarpaulins, crates and jerrycans, so the accessories will transform the look of a model at once. Paint the parts separately away from the vehicle, so that the difference between painted sheet metal, canvas and wood stands out. Set them in the places where stowage would really hold: on the fenders, around the turret and at the rear. Apply the dust and mud right at the end, so that they tie the vehicle and the stowage into one scene.
