This is neither a model of the tank nor a resin replacement for the wheels, but a set of self-adhesive die-cut masks for painting the road wheels of a model of the Soviet T-72 tank in 1:35 scale. The masks are shaped to the wheels from particular kits: this variant is cut for T-72 models from Amusing Hobby and Das Werk. Versions for T-72 models from other manufacturers are made at the same time, so watch which kit a set belongs to when choosing.
The boundary between the metal disc and the rubber tire band is one of the places where hand brushwork shows the most. The mask covers the disc, you spray the rest of the wheel in a dark rubber shade and after peeling it off you get a sharp edge that repeats identically on every wheel. On a T-72 with twelve road wheels that saves a great deal of time and the result is more uniform than going around each one with a brush.
The T-72 is a Soviet main battle tank introduced in the 1970s, built in many versions and under license outside the Soviet Union as well. Its running gear has six road wheels on each side with pronounced pressings in the discs, plus idler wheels, drive sprockets and return rollers: an assembly where the difference between a clean and a careless edge of rubber shows along the whole length of the vehicle.
Spray the wheels in the base shade of the vehicle first and let the paint cure properly, otherwise it may lift when the mask is removed. Lay the mask on centered and press it down all around so that nothing creeps underneath. Apply the dark rubber shade in thin coats and straight at the surface. Remove the mask shortly after it is dry, with a pointed toothpick or tweezers. The masks are single use; do not count on them again once they are off.
This is not a model and not spare parts. Paints, an airbrush and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
