An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet T-72 main battle tank in the AV version, that is, in the configuration with explosive reactive armor blocks added. It is a conventional glued model in 1:35 scale, supplied as a set of plastic parts, unassembled and unpainted.
The T-72 is a Soviet main battle tank that went into series production in the 1970s and became one of the most widespread tanks of its generation. Characteristic are its low silhouette, a 125 mm gun with an autoloader that made it possible to reduce the crew, and a cast turret. The AV designation corresponds to the configuration with explosive reactive armor blocks distributed on the turret front, the hull glacis and the side skirts. Power comes from a diesel engine, and the running gear rests on torsion bar suspension with six road wheels on each side and the drive sprocket at the rear. The type went through a long series of modernizations and was also built under license outside the Soviet Union.
With military vehicles it pays to work from the bottom up: fit the running gear, the torsion arms and the wheels and check their alignment before you close the hull. Glue the reactive armor blocks one at a time following the drawing and keep checking the spacing so that the rows stay parallel, because asymmetry shows a great deal on the finished model. Lay down a primer before painting, and only then the base shade with an airbrush. Lightening the upper surfaces, a dark wash in the engraved lines and pigments on the lower hull and the fenders will give the model depth. Polish the worn steel areas of the tracks and the edges of the armor carefully with graphite or silver pigment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
