A model of the light utility vehicle of the T2 type in the variant for commercial use, as the name gives. The year 1972 places the subject in the second half of the production of this type, when the vehicle already had larger windows and strengthened bumpers. The scale matches the one in which figures and vehicles are built, so the van can be set into a scene already under construction without trouble.
Flat-fronted delivery vans became almost a universal working tool in their day. Bakers, plumbers, flower shops and small tradesmen had their own advertising painted on the side of the box, so two identical vehicles each looked completely different. A roomy body, low consumption and easy maintenance kept these vehicles in service long after they stopped being built.
The large flat sides of the box are an ideal surface for a glossy finish, but at the same time they will not forgive the slightest scratch. So proceed patiently: filling, sanding through ever finer grits, and only then the paint. Company lettering stands out on a smooth base; once it has dried, fix it with a clear coat. The wheels and wheel arches deserve discreet dusting, so that the vehicle does not look as if it came from a showroom.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
