Decals 1:35 Tigers of s.Pz.Abt.509, Tiger I mid and late production are a set of historical markings for the Tiger I heavy tank in its mid and late production form.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of modeling markings in 1:35 scale for the Tiger I heavy tank. A model of the vehicle is not included: the decals serve to give a machine that is already built and painted a particular attachment to a unit, a tactical number and the other markings that the tanks of the s.Pz.Abt.509 battalion carried.
Schwere Panzer-Abteilung 509 was one of the German independent heavy tank battalions. It was raised in 1943 and operated with Tigers I on the Eastern Front, where the command moved it to wherever the front line was breaking. The set keeps to precisely that period. Tigers of the mid series can be recognized by the commander's cupola with periscopes, while late machines received steel road wheels with internal springing in place of wheels with a rubber tire. The battalion's later re-equipment with the heavier type is covered by a separate set from Star Decals.
The machines of the battalion wore a base yellow-brown shade with sprayed patches of green and brown, and in winter a washable white was added over it. Before you set about the markings, level the surface with a gloss varnish: on the grainy surface of Zimmerit the edges of the decals would otherwise go white. Once it has dried a softener will help the markings follow the texture, and only then come the matte varnish and the dust patina. With a winter scheme, on the other hand, let the markings show through in part, because the white overspray was commonly drawn across them.
