This is an add-on set for the running gear, not a model of the whole vehicle. It contains individual track links for the 2S1 self-propelled howitzer in 1:35 scale. The set is made by Trumpeter as an accessory for more faithful running gear.
The 2S1 is a Soviet 122 mm self-propelled howitzer on a tracked chassis, also known as the Gvozdika. The track links faithfully copy the characteristic pattern of this vehicle's running gear and replace or supplement the tracks of the base model with realistic, assemblable parts.
The links are plastic, so join them with thin modeling cement for plastic. Before the glue has fully set, wrap the track around the wheels so that it keeps a natural sag. The track is brought to life with a dark steel base, while earth and dust on the track pads come out with pigments and a wash; the running surfaces gain a metallic sheen from abrasion.
The set is supplied unpainted and is intended as an accessory. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
