A set of wingtip winglets for the twenty-meter version of the DG-1000 glider in 1:48 scale is an accessory for the glider kit from Brengun. It is not a model of the glider but a conversion part for one.

This item is not a kit of the glider but an accessory for one. It contains the wingtip surfaces, the so-called winglets, in the form matching the DG-1000 variant with a span of twenty meters. A winglet is a vertical surface at the wingtip that limits the flow of air around the end of the lifting surface and thereby reduces induced drag. On gliders, where every point of glide ratio counts, it is a feature designers watch closely, and on a model it is a distinctive recognition mark of a particular version. The set is prepared for the glider in Brengun's program in the same scale.
The DG-1000 is a modern two-seat glider of all-composite construction from German production, used above all for training and for performance flying in gliding clubs. The seats are arranged in tandem under a long clear canopy, the wing has a high aspect ratio and is fitted with airbrakes. The type is supplied in several wingtip configurations, so the same aircraft can have different spans depending on how the operator puts it together. A greater span increases the glide ratio, while a shorter arrangement improves maneuverability.
Before building, wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc, and never break them off. Level the mating surfaces with abrasive paper and sand wet, with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, because ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Apply a primer before painting, otherwise the paint would hold poorly on the smooth casting. Seat the winglets symmetrically, otherwise in a display case the model will visually twist the whole wing. The surest way is to make a simple angled jig and glue both sides against it. Fill and sand the transition between wing and winglet smooth, because on a glider a clean surface tells more than on other types.
The add-on set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
