An injection-molded plastic model of the M142 HIMARS wheeled rocket launcher in Ukrainian service, in 1:35 scale from FORE ART. It is a mixed-media kit - besides the plastic parts the package holds a photo-etched fret and 3D-printed parts that raise the level of detail. The model allows the launcher to be built either with GMLRS rockets or with the large ATACMS missile. The manufacturer further states a detailed chassis and drivetrain, a driver's cab with an interior, an optional armored cab, openable doors, steerable front wheels and a movable launcher; a 3D-printed driver figure is enclosed as well.
The M142 HIMARS is an American wheeled rocket launcher system on the chassis of a military truck. It carries one pod of guided rockets of the GMLRS family, or one large ATACMS ballistic missile with greater reach. Thanks to the wheeled chassis it is mobile and can change its firing position quickly after launching. The system became more widely known thanks, among other things, to its use with the Ukrainian armed forces.
With military vehicles it pays to assemble and paint the chassis, the drivetrain and the cab interior before the bodywork is closed up. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic; glue the photo-etched and 3D-printed parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and clean the 3D-printed parts first and protect your airways while sanding. Apply a primer before painting and spray the colors with an airbrush in thin coats. Fine-tune the weathering with dark washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the chassis and the wheels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
