1:35 US G.I.s

American soldiers in 1:35 scale

Figures of American soldiers in 1:35 scale, that is in the same size in which most models of ground equipment are built. The abbreviation G.I. is an established informal term for an American soldier and in the modeling trade it persists as a collective name for figures in American field kit. Within the range the individual sets are set apart by a product code, and this one is carried under the designation B6-35060. How many figures and in what poses the package holds is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

What it is suited to

Soldiers beside a vehicle give a model a scale that the equipment by itself will never show so convincingly. The figures prove themselves with half-track carriers and trucks, where they are visible in the bed, and on a base with a model on its own. An adult figure measures around five centimeters in this scale, so the face and the kit can both be seen.

Building and painting tips

• Cut surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder.
• Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and degrease them.
• Try the placement of the figures out dry, while they can still be moved.
• Apply the paint in thin coats; a heavy coat will flood the folds and the features of the face.
• Glue suitable for the material used is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
