U.S.M.C. Machine Gun Team, Tet 1968 in 1:35 scale is an unpainted multi-figure set in casting resin from the manufacturer Bravo 6 with a machine gun crew as its subject. It serves as a figure accessory for a diorama or as a display case scene on its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is cast in casting resin and its subject is a machine gun crew, that is a composition of several figures working together at one weapon. It is not a model of equipment but a figure accessory in 1:35 scale. It is precisely the tie between the figures that makes such a set a finished scene, which only has to be set on a base.
The composition belongs to the range of Marines from 1968 and is conceived so that the figures look like a single whole, not like two figures standing on their own. The castings tend to be divided into torso, head, limbs and carried equipment, so that the sculptor could model the folds of the field uniform and the small kit. Resin holds sharper detail than injection-molded plastic, so the straps, the pockets and the texture of the cloth all stand out. Sets of the same range can be combined with one another, so you can widen the scene with further figures.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, or the remains of the release agent from the mold will prevent the paint from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, level the surfaces with abrasive paper and protect your airways while sanding. Glue with cyanoacrylate super glue; cement for plastic has no effect on resin. With a multi-figure composition it pays to assemble the figures dry first and to try their mutual placement out, and only then to glue them down firmly. Paint over a primer, build the skin up in thin coats, the uniform in the olive green shades typical of tropical field equipment, and pull the detail out with a dark wash and a fine dry brush.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
