A wall with a railing in 1:35 scale forms a dividing backdrop that a figure can lean on and that closes off the rear edge of a whole display-case scene.

This diorama item from the Black Dog brand joins a masonry face with a metal railing and so deals with two things at once: it closes the display off from behind and gives it a city character. It is not a kit of a vehicle or of a figure but an architectural backdrop that the modeler completes with a model of his own. The scale matches ordinary kits of ground hardware.
Every display needs a boundary, otherwise the viewer's gaze runs off into empty space. A wall creates such a boundary and at the same time offers a surface for posters, flaking plaster or traces of the weather. A railing above it adds a fine line that breaks up the uniform block and gives the scene a sense of scale. Similar structures lined quays, embankments and stairways all over Europe, so it suits subjects between the wars and after them alike.
Spray the masonry part in gray-beige, then draw a dark wash over it and wipe the excess off with a damp cloth. Go over the standing edges with a dry brush in a lighter tone. The railing calls for a different approach: a base in dark brown, flecks of orange rust applied with a sponge and finally a light metallic sheen in the places people touched most often.
The item comes without any surface treatment, so your paints and your patina will decide the final impression.
