A pair of windows in 1:35 scale from the production of the Ukrainian brand Spalah. Printing from photopolymer resin gives them crisp frames, thin glazing bars and a clearly drawn sill. It is not a kit of a building but separate features, which you set into a wall of your own made of card, plaster or foamed plastic.
A window opening is a place a viewer's eye wanders to subconsciously in a scene. Two pieces are enough for the front of a smaller house, for the side of a wrecked workshop or for a wall behind which infantry are hiding. It is rewarding to leave one window intact and the other blown out, with a twisted frame and shards in the corner, because that contrast tells at once what has happened in the scene. The opening also lends itself to a view into an interior, even one suggested by nothing more than a piece of wall and a shadow.
Thin clear film stuck on from behind will take the place of glass, and fragments of the same film will suggest a broken pane. Spray the frame with primer, then with a covering color, and finally bring it to life with a dark wash into the corners and an almost dry brush along the edges. Lead the rust, the chipped finish and the deposit of dust from the top downward, so that the traces look like the work of rain, not like random blotches.
The accessory is supplied as a bare casting, without paints and without glue.
