This is a photo-etched detail set in thin metal sheet, that is an addition to a plastic kit, not a model of the tank. On tracked equipment photo-etch comes into its own wherever the real material is thin: the grilles over the engine bay, the fenders and their folding ends, the clamps and holders for tools, the eyes and the hatch latches. The basic extent of the set aims at the main external elements, which show the most on a finished model.
The Panther was a German medium tank of the Second World War which combined heavily sloped frontal armor, a long 7.5 cm gun with a high muzzle velocity and a powerful gasoline engine. The Ausf. A version was the second production variant and it brought above all a new commander's cupola and a machine gun port in the front of the hull in place of the earlier simple arrangement. The tank had a reputation as a very effective weapon, accompanied by trouble with the running gear and with reliability, and it has become one of the most frequently built modeling subjects of all.
Cut the parts off with a sharp scalpel or photo-etch scissors only at the moment when you are about to glue them. Make the bends along the scored lines in a bending tool, and on small parts tweezers and patience help. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, so that it does not run into the engraving. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a base coat for metal. On German equipment a preshade in a dark color works well, then the main shade, a wash in the recesses and finally pigments on the fenders and the running gear.
The package contains only photo-etched parts. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
