Tamiya Zimmerit Coating Sheet for the Panther Ausf.G Early Production 1:35 is a self-adhesive sheet that faithfully imitates the antimagnetic zimmerit coating without using putty.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a self-adhesive sheet with a molded zimmerit texture intended for a plastic model of the Panther Ausf.G medium tank of early production in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit or a tank part but an accessory: a thin, pliable material with relief that is simply cut to the shape of the hull and turret parts and stuck onto the surface of the model. It is made by Tamiya.
Zimmerit was a paste-like antimagnetic compound applied to German tanks in the second half of the Second World War. It was meant to stop magnetic mines from sticking to the armor. Its characteristic ridging, made with a trowel, is a recognition feature of many vehicles of 1943 and 1944, including early production Panther Ausf.G tanks.
Trace the parts to the shape of the armor, cut them out and stick them onto a smoothly cleaned surface. Fine-tune the transitions and edges with gentle pressure and trim them if needed. Once stuck down, the sheet is painted and weathered just like plastic — a primer, a period camouflage shade and then washes and pigments to bring out the texture are ideal. It removes the slow and demanding work of modeling zimmerit in putty.
This is an accessory for a model. The tank itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
