This accessory is a pre-molded self-adhesive sheet with which you faithfully reproduce zimmerit on a model, that is the anti-magnetic paste applied to German tanks in the later phase of the Second World War. It is made by Tamiya and the sheet is shaped to fit the Panzer IV Ausf. J tank model in 1:35 scale. It is neither a paint nor a conventional photo-etch but a thin textured film with relief.
The sheet makes it possible to add zimmerit without the laborious application and scribing of two-part putty. The individual segments are cut out to the shape of the parts and stuck directly onto the surface of the model, which produces a convincing three-dimensional surface ready for painting.
Degrease the areas of the model before sticking the sheet on and offer the segments up patiently, so that they line up with the edges and hatches. Once they are on, we recommend spraying the surface with a primer, so that the film and the model react to the following coats in the same way. The texture comes out beautifully after a wash and dry-brushing.
This is an accessory for a model, not a standalone kit. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
