The wood veneer with pre-printed plank laying and an adhesive back replaces the engraved plastic deck of the kit. The product does not contain a model of the ship; the cut is prepared for the Trumpeter 05330 kit.
The whole job stands or falls on how you handle the protective film. Never tear it off the whole piece at once. Peel back only a strip a few millimeters wide at one end, settle the piece by it, press it down and only then pull the film gradually out from under the veneer. That way the wood is not creased anywhere and the area stays under control. While the adhesive has not set, the veneer can be lifted carefully and moved, but that can be repeated only a few times.
Once it is glued down, check the edges against the light and press the veneer down once more wherever it has not seated. Level overhangs with a sharp knife and sand the edges lightly. If you want to darken the wood, use a very thin wood stain and add it in coats; an oversaturated tone cannot be brought back. A matte varnish at the end unifies the sheen of the whole area and prepares it for any weathering.
The accessory is supplied separately, without a kit, paints and varnish, unless stated otherwise.
