This is not a ship model but a detailing accessory from the Eduard brand in 1:350 scale from the SPACE range. That range combines pre-printed, color-finished 3D decals with fine steel photo-etched parts. The set adds small but striking life buoys to the decks and superstructures of ship models.
Life buoys are a characteristic element of every ship, and in 1:350 scale an ordinary kit either does not contain them or only hints at them coarsely. Color-finished parts make it possible to fit realistic buoys without laboriously painting tiny details and markedly bring railings and superstructures to life.
Take the photo-etched parts carefully out of the fret with a sharp knife, shape them if need be and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The 3D decals are applied much like wet decals; once dry it is advisable to seal the surface with varnish. A softener, however, has no place with them, as it damages the printed resin. Given the size of the parts, work with tweezers and good lighting.
