A kit of the American North American B-25B Mitchell medium bomber in 1:350 scale. This scale is at home with large ship models, and that is exactly where this machine belongs too: as an addition to the deck of an aircraft carrier or as part of a harbor scene. The parts are correspondingly tiny and the build is short.
The B-25 Mitchell was a twin-engine medium bomber with twin vertical tails that served in practically every theater of the Second World War. It was the B-25B version that went down in history in April 1942, when sixteen of these machines took off from the deck of the carrier USS Hornet to raid the Japanese home islands. It was the first attack by American bombers on Japanese territory and an extraordinarily demanding operation, because a land-based bomber had never been built to take off from a ship and landing back on deck was out of the question.
In 1:350 scale it is cleanliness, not the amount of detail, that counts. Sand the parting seams on the fuselage and the nacelles only lightly, so that you do not wipe out the engraved lines. The propellers and the gear legs are very fragile, so separate them only at the moment of fitting. Painting can be done with a brush or an airbrush, but thin coats pay off: heavy paint would drown the shape transitions. In this scale the canopy glazing is usually only suggested with a dark shade and a fine light surround.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
