British flight decks worked on the same principle as American ones, only with their own customs and with different equipment. Tow tractors moved aircraft around the area, pulled them to the elevators and pushed them aside to clear the run for the next machine. It was inconspicuous but unceasing work, without which operations on a confined area would have come to a halt within minutes.
Work over a surface with a light-colored top, because the small parts are easily lost. Separate the parts with a new blade, sand the transitions and prepare the surface with a thin coat of primer. Choose a matte paint and apply it in mists. Suggest the effect of service with a slight darkening of the corners, and possibly a mild lightening of the edges. Think out the arrangement on the deck before you reach for the glue.
