An injection-molded plastic kit of the German battleship Schleswig-Holstein in 1:350 scale from the production of the maker Trumpeter. The ship belonged to the Deutschland class, the last generation of German pre-dreadnoughts, that is battleships from before the arrival of the all-big-gun concept (the dreadnought). The model captures the ship in her form of 1908, from shortly after she entered service. It is a classic kit with the whole hull (full hull), usually completed with smaller photo-etched parts. The exact contents of the package and the number of parts are not stated here.
The Schleswig-Holstein was one of the battleships of the Deutschland class built for the German imperial navy (Kaiserliche Marine). She carried a main battery of guns of 280 mm caliber supplemented by medium and light artillery. Although by the time she was completed she had technically been surpassed by the newer dreadnoughts, she served extraordinarily long: in rebuilt form she lived to see the Second World War. This model, however, depicts her in her early state of 1908, with the superstructures and turrets matching the beginning of her service.
Glue the hull and superstructures with thin modeling cement for plastic, and fix the fine photo-etched parts (railings, small fittings) with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Assemble and paint the gun turrets and funnels separately and only then settle them on the deck. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, and accent the deck details and panel lines with a wash. The model can be built with the whole hull on a stand, or the hull can be modified into the waterline form.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
