The Panigale Red paint from Number Five aims at the brand red of the Ducati Panigale superbikes from Bologna.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Panigale Red shade is named after the superbike that carries red as part of the brand's identity. It is a deep, fairly dark tone without the pink cast that lower-grade reds on motorcycle kit bodywork tend to have.
Ducati presented the Panigale in 2012 as the 1199, and technically it was a break. The tubular frame the brand had built on for decades was replaced by an aluminum monocoque, and the engine itself took over the load-bearing role. The V-twin is called Superquadro after its very wide bore against a short stroke. After the 1199 came the 1299 version, and from 2018 the four-cylinder V4, but the red stayed across the whole line as the thing by which even a layman recognizes a machine from Bologna. The bodywork is moreover divided into few parts, so the color spreads over large continuous surfaces and a difference in tone between them shows immediately.
A motorcycle kit stands and falls with the paint on the bodywork, because the surfaces are small but conspicuous and are not meant to differ in color from resin accessories. The shade will therefore be appreciated by anyone who builds Italian superbikes and wants a uniform tone on plastic and on accessories alike. The subject is the bodywork of a production Panigale, where the red covers the side radiator covers and the front fairing as well, while the frame and the suspension stay outside the colored area.
