Sierra Q8 Cream Yellow

The color

Cream yellow is a soft, milky, muted tone, so something other than a rich racing yellow. It is listed in the Number 5 range under the manufacturer's part number N5-C169 and takes its name from the car designated Sierra in the Q8 form. A dark blue with the part number N5-C164 is listed under the same name in the same range, and both colors belong to one color scheme.

Preparing the surface

Light muted shades will not hide sanding marks or fingerprints; on the contrary, they emphasize them. Sand the surface smooth, then, wash it, degrease it and let it dry. Stir the jar thoroughly before use, otherwise settled pigment will stay at the bottom and the first coats will come out translucent.

Application

Under cream belongs a light and, above all, an even base. Over gray plastic the shade goes gray, and over patchy filler every repair prints through into the finished surface. Apply thin coats with a short pause between them and do not thin the paint more than necessary, as an over-thinned coat runs into the panel lines and leaves dark edges. Thin it with the thinner intended for this paint range; the thinning ratio and the airbrush pressure are given by the manufacturer in the instructions on the packaging. Lay masking tape down only on a fully dried coat, as fresh light paint is pulled away most easily at a border with a dark shade.

For builders of rally car models who put a two-color scheme together from ready-made shades. This is the paint on its own; the thinner, clear varnish and spraying equipment are not supplied with it, unless stated otherwise.
