A luminous red from the Number 5 brand, listed under the RAL color standard as number 3024. It belongs among the so-called luminous shades, which in daylight look richer and bolder than an ordinary red. On a model it suits places where the color is meant to shout: racing cars, warning areas on machinery and elements that have to be seen at first glance.
A luminous shade behaves differently from a paint that glows in the dark. In daylight it looks bright and rich, but in darkness it does not glow; in the dark it stays a dark red like any other coat. Count on luminous pigments generally standing up less well to long exposure to light too, so it is better not to put a finished model in a window in direct sun.
Luminous shades cover badly and their effect stands or falls with the base. Spray a white or very light base coat first, then, let it harden and only then build the top shade up in thin coats. Over a gray or dark base the paint goes darker and the whole effect is lost. Stir the paint well before every use; which thinner to use and in what ratio is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
