Lola Red is a red shade from Number Five from the trio named after the chassis of the British Lola marque.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second of the three shades that Number Five named after the British Lola. Red belongs among the colors in which the customer chassis of this marque set out most often, and it is a saturated variant with no orange shift, of the kind that suits a large body surface.
While in Europe the marque is connected mainly with sports cars, in North America it established itself as a supplier of chassis for the series of single-seaters around the race at Indianapolis. In the 1980s and 1990s the Lola cars formed the backbone of the starting field, most of the leading teams ran them and the championship titles of that era fell for the most part to exactly its machinery. Because these were customer cars, the color was decided by the sponsor of a team and not by the factory: the same type of chassis thus stood in the pits in red, blue and white according to who paid for it.
It suits builders of formula and circuit single-seaters who need a red saturated enough to work as the main color of a car and not merely as a highlighting stripe. It finds a use as well where a model is meant to be part of a pit scene with machinery and accessories brought into one team color.
