The F/A-18D is the two-seat version of the Hornet carrier combat aircraft. The cockpit with two stations under a single canopy is clearly visible on the model and looks unfinished when empty, so this is exactly where most add-on sets are aimed.
The Quinta set completes the interior of the F/A-18D late model in 1:48 scale and is cut to suit the Hasegawa kit. The elements are printed, have raised relief and come already colored, so the instrument panels, the side consoles and the seat belts do not have to be laboriously painted or outlined. This is the smaller version of the set, that is a narrower selection of elements than the full variant.
The sheet is briefly dipped in lukewarm water and the element is slid off the carrier paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on a gloss coat of the Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22 type, so a matte surface is a mistake. Level the areas in the cockpit beforehand, give them a gloss coat and press the seated element down with a soft stick from the center toward the edges, so that no air is left under it. Do not use a decal softener or a decal setting solution, as they attack the printed resin.
Cut the printed parts enclosed away from the print supports with a sharp blade a little away from the part, and sand the remaining stubs down with fine paper. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and before painting you should wash them and let them dry completely.
The set is for builders who want a cockpit that reads properly even under a closed canopy and who at the same time do not want to spend evenings painting tiny dials. Working with it is quick, needs no airbrush and is within reach even of a modeler who is only just trying add-ons out. Unless stated otherwise, the package holds only the add-on set; the kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
