A-20G Havoc, 3D color interior 1:32 (Quinta Studio)

A set of color 3D decals from Quinta Studio for detailing the cockpit of a model of the American Douglas A-20G Havoc attack bomber. These are full-color, three-dimensionally raised elements printed on decal backing paper, from which they slide into place after a short soak. It is not a photo-etched or resin set but finished color 3D detail.

The real subject

The Douglas A-20 Havoc was an American twin-engine attack and light bomber aircraft of the Second World War. The A-20G version had a solid nose with gun armament instead of glazing and was widely used for low-level attacks. The roomy pilot cockpit with its instrument panel, side consoles and seat is a prominent feature, and this set reproduces it faithfully.

Use

• cut the individual parts from the sheet and leave them in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds
• slide the part off the backing paper onto the plastic cockpit part; it conforms well to the curved shapes of the panels and sidewalls
• it has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on gloss varnish (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22); in broken-up places a drop of super glue helps
• do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemistry attacks the printed resin
