This is NOT an airplane kit but a set of relief colored 3D decals for a detailed rendering of the cockpit of the British de Havilland Mosquito multi-role aircraft in the FB Mk.VI and NF Mk.II versions in 1:48 scale. It takes the place of laborious painting and of photo-etched parts for the instrument panel and the side panels. The set is designed for the kit from Tamiya.
The 3D decal is printed in color with a raised relief - the raised rims of the dials, the switches, the levers and the lettering come out particularly well when seen from the side. Seat belts are usually included as well. The resulting interior looks three-dimensional without having to assemble and paint photo-etched parts.
Clean and degrease the surface and give it a gloss clear coat (Future/Klear, Tamiya X-22) - the element will not hold on a matte surface. Cut the part out, soak it in lukewarm water for about 15 seconds and slide it off the backing paper into place; it has no adhesive layer of its own, and on a broken-up surface a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener; Quinta Studio forbids it, because its chemistry attacks the printed resin and will ruin the element. Once dry, the surface can be flattened with a matte varnish.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
