About product

Top Studio 0.6 mm Translucent Tube

A translucent modeling tube with a diameter of 0.6 mm from the Japanese manufacturer Top Studio, which specializes in detail parts for motorcycle, car and Formula models. This is a detail material, not a kit — you are buying raw stock to make lines, not a model. Do not confuse it with the clear range: translucent means light-permeable, but not transparent — light passes through it, but an image does not. It has a milky, hazy look, so it reads more like a real plastic or rubber hose, whereas the clear variant behaves like glass and suits places where you want to see what is inside.

Use

  • Wiring — cables, ignition leads, bundles routed along the frame.
  • Cable housings and lines — throttle, clutch, brake, lines to instruments; the finest diameter in the range is made exactly for this.
  • Thin fuel and vent lines in smaller scales, where a thicker line would look coarse.
  • Slipped over wire — the wire holds the bend, the tube supplies the surface and diameter, and the line then holds its shape.
  • Cut-off pieces as clamps and end fittings at line joints.

Which Diameter to Choose

The diameter is chosen based on the model's scale and purpose: 0.6 mm is the thinnest in the range and belongs on wiring, cable housings and fine lines. Thicker lines — fuel, brakes, a cooling circuit — are made from 0.8 mm (in both translucent and clear versions), or clear 1.0 mm. Scale plays a role too: a motorcycle in 1:12 can carry noticeably thicker lines than a car in 1:24, where 0.6 mm tends to be the right thickness. Most modelers therefore combine several diameters on one model.

Who It Is For

For modelers doing super-detailing — it is exactly these small touches that set apart a built kit from a contest-winning model. It suits builders of motorcycles, road and race cars, and Formula cars, and anyone who wants to replace the rigid plastic lines from the kit with something that looks like a real hose.

This is not a kit, but a detail material. Wire, glue and paints are not included in the package. Cut with a sharp scalpel at a right angle so the end does not get crushed.

FAQ

Translucent lets light through but scatters it — it is milky and you cannot make out an image through it, so it looks like a real hose. Clear is transparent like glass and you can see through it, which suits cases where you want to show a wire or a colored tube slipped inside. They are two separate sub-ranges, not the same thing.

Tubes in this range are supplied in a 2-meter length, the same as the clear variant. Check the exact length of your specific package on the packaging.

The manufacturer does not state the material. The term translucent refers to light transmission, not color; the manufacturer does not specify a color for this tube.

For wiring, cable housings and fine lines, or thin tubing in smaller scales. Fuel and brake lines are usually made from thicker diameters — 0.8 mm, or even 1.0 mm in large scales.
