1:700 USS Ohio Class SSGN with SDV is a plastic kit of the American nuclear submarine of the Ohio class in the guided missile configuration from the brand Riich Models. The package is conceived as a double one.
Responsibility details are not available.
Riich Models offers this item as a double package, so that out of one box you build two hulls. The workmanship matches the 1:700 scale, in which a submarine sits well beside surface ships of the same scale. The abbreviation SDV in the name refers to the underwater vehicle for carrying combat swimmers, which on these submarines is fixed to the hull.
The Ohio class came about as a carrier of ballistic missiles and in that role it forms the backbone of the American naval deterrent. Four of the oldest boats, however, went through a conversion to the SSGN variant at the turn of the millennium: instead of ballistic missiles they received launchers for cruise missiles, and part of the space was set aside for special forces operations. It is because of them that pods and carriers for underwater vehicles appear on the hull.
The lengthwise seam of the hull is the most conspicuous thing on a submarine, so fill it after gluing and sand it smooth with progressively finer grits. Suggest the anechoic tiles with a flat coat and a slight difference in shade, not by engraving. Never leave the black finish completely flat: add a light lightening of the upper surfaces, or the model will merge into itself in photographs. Fit the small carriers and antennas at the very end, so that they do not fall off while you handle it.
The submarines come as unpainted parts on sprues, and the package holds neither glue nor paints.
