1:43 KTM-8 tram from AVD Models is a kit of a four-axle high-floor tram car from the Ust-Katav wagon works. 1:43 scale matches collector models of cars, so the vehicle can be displayed together with them.

The kit captures the KTM-8 tram motor car, the type with the factory designation 71-608, which became one of the most common vehicles of the 1990s in post-Soviet cities. AVD Models offers it in 1:43 scale. That is the scale collectors of metal car models are used to, so the finished tram will take its place naturally in the same cabinet and will show off the difference in size against passenger car models well.
The KTM-8 followed on from the very widespread KTM-5 type and brought against it a more modern, more angular shell with large glazed areas and a reworked front. It is a classic high-floor four-axle motor car, a layout that proved itself on the networks of the time for its simplicity and easy maintenance. The vehicles were delivered to a number of cities and in many of them served long after the year 2000, often already in colorful advertising liveries. From a modeling point of view it is a rewarding subject: large flat surfaces, a pronounced front and a clearly readable outline.
You will make the build easier by assembling the shell dry before joining it for good and checking how the glazing and the door panels sit. The large flat sides deserve a filler primer, because it is on them that every irregularity shows in side light. Spray the finish in thin coats and deal with sharp transitions between color fields using masking tape run along the trim strips. Fit the glazing only once the finish is complete and fix it with an adhesive for clear parts, so that it does not go dull. Keep the weathering restrained: dust on the running gear, darker traces around the current collector and lightly dulled door edges are enough.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
