FIRST, FIGHTER, ZVOLENSKY 1962-1970, part three is a publication by Miroslav Irra on the history of a Czechoslovak fighter air regiment.
Responsibility details are not available.
The third volume of the series by Miroslav Irra devoted to the history of the 1st Fighter Air Regiment, which bore the honorary title Zvolensky. This part covers the years 1962 to 1970. The publisher is Jakab Publishing and this is a printed publication, not a modeling set.
The 1960s were the period of the greatest change for Czechoslovak fighter aviation. The generational leap from subsonic machines to MiG-21s meant different tactics, different training and different demands on the ground personnel. At the same time it is a period from which a number of photographs of aircraft with specific markings survive, a rewarding reference when you are choosing a scheme for a model and want to keep to the real equipment of a particular unit. The history of the unit also shows how political interventions worked through into everyday service: who flew, who had to leave and how that told on combat readiness.
For anyone interested in the history of Czechoslovak military aviation, for modelers building machines with home markings and for readers who follow the fates of particular units across political breaks. Neither the previous nor the following volumes of the series are needed to understand this one, as the period is a self-contained whole.
