Fern 1:48 is scenery vegetation for a diorama from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene. They are individual ferns to be planted into terrain, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package contains individual ferns for dioramas and vignettes in 1:48 scale. The plants are separated from the sheet, shaped and planted into finished terrain. The manufacturer is the Czech company Model Scene, which supplies diorama vegetation and scenery materials. It is not a model or a figure, but an accessory for filling out and bringing a scene to life. The name gives a range of 1:45 and 1:48 – the plant is small and usable in both bands.
Ferns of the temperate zone form pronounced fan-shaped clumps with deeply divided fronds. They seek out shade and damp: they grow in forest undergrowth, at the feet of trees, on north-facing slopes, in damp ravines, around streams and at the edges of tracks in woodland. They tolerate neither direct sun nor dry parched soil, so their placement in itself tells the story of a scene's character. The green version matches spring and summer.
Bend the fronds before planting so that they curve naturally – a fern never grows flat and straight. Combine several clumps of different sizes into groups and add moss, a fine scatter or fallen leaves between them. Plant them into a pre-drilled hole with a drop of cyanoacrylate; on a soft base PVA glue is enough. Emphasize the shade by placing the ferns under trees and on the north side of structures; in a sunny open area they look unconvincing.
This is a scenery accessory, not a model kit. The glue, the paints, the base and any further material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
