Human skeleton, male, in 1:16 scale: a modeling accessory from Firma49 for dioramas with historical as well as fantasy subjects.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeling accessory depicting the skeleton of an adult man, rendered in 1:16 scale. The subject is aimed at dioramas, where it is to complete the atmosphere, rather than at ordinary figures of soldiers or civilians.
A skeleton belongs among the classic props of scenes with abandoned places: archaeological digs, catacombs, caves, old mine works, cemeteries or fantasy subjects with the undead. In 1:16 scale builders work on large figures and busts, so the accessory also serves as part of a base or as a prominent element in the foreground of a scene. An anatomical subject will equally suit those who want to practice painting on an intricate surface full of small shapes, where there is a great deal to learn about working with shadow.
Bone is not white; a broken cream to grayish base looks natural. Working from a dark base toward light layers laid on with a dry brush pulls the edges and the intricacy out. A darker glaze suits the hollows and deepens the shadow between the ribs and in the eye sockets. The base of the scene and the skeleton should share some of their shades so that they belong together to the eye. It is also worth deciding whether the skeleton is to look freshly uncovered or long forgotten.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and needs ordinary cleaning up before painting.
