A plastic kit of the Japanese fast battleship Haruna in 1:350 scale: the issue with the camouflage finish, as the name gives.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sizable kit of a large surface unit. In 1:350 scale the hull exceeds half a meter, so the result is the centerpiece of a display case and certainly not an afternoon's work. The addition in brackets in the name refers to the dazzle camouflage finish by which this issue differs from the other boxings of the same ship.
Haruna was one of four units of the Kongo class. They were created before the First World War as battlecruisers and in the 1920s and 1930s went through two extensive rebuilds: they were given new boilers and machinery, stronger armor and a lengthened hull. The result was the fastest large ships of the Japanese fleet, which predestined them to escort carrier forces and to fast night operations. The main armament consisted of four twin turrets, and the unmistakable feature is the tall stepped superstructure above the bridge.
First join both halves of the hull and let them cure properly, and only then glue the decks on, so that nothing warps. Leave the fine masts and booms right to the end; they break off easily during handling. Spray the camouflage scheme onto a matured base and do the transitions between shades with free masking held a little above the surface. The wooden deck stands out after a light dry brush, and weather the underwater part only sparingly, otherwise the model goes gray.
The kit is unassembled and without a surface finish. You obtain the paints and glue separately.
