1:48 A-1H/J Skyraider, canopy frame mask for the single-seat propeller-driven attack aircraft. Intended for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A canopy frame mask for the single-seat Douglas Skyraider in the A-1H and A-1J versions, 1:48 scale. Sharp frame edges are created in a single spraying, without the laborious assembling of strips of adhesive tape around the curves. The curves are exactly where covering by hand fails most often on this machine. The set is designed for the Tamiya kit.
The Skyraider was designed at the end of the Second World War as a carrier-based attack machine with exceptional load-carrying ability. Its radial engine gave it an endurance the jets did not have, which is why it saw long use over Southeast Asia, among other things escorting rescue helicopters. It had a row of hardpoints under the wing and could stay over the battlefield for hours, something the crews of downed aircraft valued more than speed. The letters H and J denote late single-seat forms with revised equipment.
First wash the transparent part and let it dry, so that no fingerprints are left on it. The frames are sprayed first in the interior shade and only then in the exterior shade; the transition on the fuselage then looks convincing. Lift the stencil off while the finish has only just dried, not after several days, when the coat has grown brittle. If you plan the canopy slid back, finish the seat and the instrument panel first.
