1:48 A-4C Skyhawk from Eduard brings several photo-etched sets for one American carrier attack aircraft together in a shared Big Ed package.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a model of an aircraft but an assembly of metal photo-etched accessories that Eduard offers as a whole under the Big Ed designation. The aim of the line is to cover several areas of added detail with a single purchase instead of taking the same sets one by one. It is intended for a plastic model of the A-4C version of the Skyhawk in 1:48 scale.
The Skyhawk was designed by Ed Heinemann's team as a deliberately small and light carrier attack aircraft; the result was so compact that it managed without folding wings. The A-4C version brought a radar for attack in poor visibility and, against the earlier series, changes to the avionics. Machines of this version flew from the decks of American aircraft carriers, saw use over Southeast Asia and, after being withdrawn from front-line units, continued in service abroad. Low weight and a simple structure gave the type an unusually long life.
Before fitting the metal parts, go through which plastic elements have to give way – on attack aircraft cockpits that is most often the instrument panel, the side panels and the surfaces of the landing gear bays. Level the place you have cleared with a file and degrease it. Bend small parts over the edge of a metal ruler and hold them with flat-jawed tweezers. Apply the paint only over a primer, which will hold on smooth metal.
The package contains accessories only – it is no substitute for the plastic model or the chemicals that go with it.
