1:48 A-4M Skyhawk canopy mask (double sided) covers the frames of the enlarged canopy of the late Skyhawk, from the face and from the reverse of the glazing. Intended for the Hasegawa and Hobby 2000 models.

The stencils are cut out to the shape of the glazing of the late A-4M version in forty-eighth scale and cover both sides of the clear parts. A set for the same aircraft cut for a different kit exists as well, which is why it matters with this item that it is intended for the Hasegawa and Hobby 2000 models. The differences in the division of the frames between individual kits tend to be small, but with pieces cut this precisely they show up at once.
The A-4M came about at the beginning of the 1970s as the last large development branch of the Skyhawk, built directly for the needs of the US Marine Corps. It received a stronger powerplant, a drag chute at the root of the rudder and above all a conspicuously enlarged and more angular canopy, which widened the pilot's view during an attack on ground targets. Later machines carried a fuselage spine with additional avionics above the fuselage. The shape of the cockpit is precisely the quickest way to tell the A-4M from older Skyhawks at first glance.
The angular canopy has longer straight runs, so the stencils are laid on more easily than on rounded cockpits, but every millimeter of shift is better seen on them. Lay them on dry, line them up by the edge of the frame and only then press them down. Before painting, run a fingernail or a wooden stick along the edges and lay on a thin sealing coat in the interior shade, which fills any microscopic gaps before the covering paint has its say.
