A photo-etched metal set in 1:48 scale for a model of the A-7E Corsair II carrier attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-7E is a version of the Corsair II carrier attack aircraft, the single-engine subsonic machine of the US Navy intended for attacks on ground targets. You will recognize it by its short, stocky fuselage with the large frontal air intake under the nose and by the single-seat cockpit set high above it. A model of this aircraft has broad smooth surfaces, so every fine element shows to good effect on it.
It is a set of photo-etched metal parts, as its listing among photo-etched accessories shows. The elements are etched into thin sheet, held in a carrier fret and separated from it before use. Metal allows a thickness that a plastic part cannot have because of the way it is made. The exact make-up of the fret and the placement of the individual parts are given in the enclosed instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a firm surface, because twisting will warp the thin sheet for good. When bending, hold the part along the whole length of the bend so that the edge comes out straight. Use cyanoacrylate glue applied in a small amount for the joints, ideally with the tip of a piece of wire. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and cover it with a thin base coat, otherwise the paint rubs off the smooth surface.
The set is for modelers who want to take a model beyond the contents of the box and do not mind working with small metal elements. The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
