An injection-molded plastic kit of the LTV A-7E Corsair II carrier-borne attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The set comes from a proven mold and brings decals for four versions. The model offers plenty of external stores and is a rewarding subject for intermediate modelers.
The A-7 Corsair II came about in the mid-1960s as a subsonic carrier-borne light attack aircraft that was to replace the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk and the piston-engined A-1 Skyraider in the US Navy. The A-7E version was the last production variant for the Navy; it had improved avionics and could carry both the Harpoon anti-ship missile and the AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missile. The Corsair II proved itself in a series of deployments from Vietnam to later conflicts.
Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic and finish the cockpit with its instrument panel before joining the fuselage. Cover the glazing with a mask or with tape. Give particular attention to the seating of the air intake under the nose and to the layout of the stores under the wings. Gray naval camouflage comes out well once the panel lines have been gently emphasized; lay a gloss varnish on under the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
