National insignia masks for a model of the attack helicopter AH-1G Cobra in 1:48 scale, for the machine with the markings carried under the designation Arctic Cobra.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bell AH-1G Cobra was the first production attack helicopter of its kind and it became famous for its service in Vietnam. It has a narrow fuselage with a cabin laid out in tandem, stub wings with pylons for armament and skid landing gear. The narrow sides of the fuselage leave the national insignia and the other markings little room, so every inaccuracy in their rendering is noticed at once.
The set contains national insignia masks for a model in 1:48 scale, tied to the machine with the markings known under the designation Arctic Cobra. The insignia is sprayed in paint, so the carrier film of a decal and its glossy edge are done away with. The extent of the masks, their sizes and layout is given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
The base under a mask has to be dried, smooth and degreased; on fresh paint a mask does not hold and it tears it off while being removed. Press the edges of the mask down with a blunt point, so that paint does not run under them. Spray in several thin coats and let the paint go tacky between them. Take the mask off shortly after the paint goes tacky, pulling at an angle to the side. With an insignia made up of several colors proceed according to the order given in the instructions.
A model of the helicopter, paints and thinners are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The extent of the masks supplied is given in the manufacturer's description.
