A set of photo-etched metal parts for the model of the AH-64D attack helicopter in 1:48 scale. Photo-etched metal suits everywhere a feature is made of thin sheet in reality and comes out needlessly thick in injection-molded plastic, that is on grilles, covers and small faces with a sharp edge. The real subject

The AH-64D is an attack helicopter with a crew of two seated in tandem. On the sides of the fuselage it carries stub wings with pylons for its armament, under the nose it has a movable weapon mount and it stands on fixed wheeled landing gear. The D version came about by modernizing older machines, and some of them received the conspicuous radar housing set above the head of the main rotor.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp blade against a hard surface and do not twist them off, because the metal bends at the tab and is hard to straighten again. Then sand the remains of the tab level with the outline of the part. Move small features with fine-tipped tweezers; it is practical to pick super glue up on the tip of a wire and carry it drop by drop straight onto the surface being bonded. Wash and degrease the metal surface with alcohol before painting and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth metal.
