Albatros D.V propeller decal 1:48 is a special transparent decal from Peewit that faithfully imitates the wood grain of the propeller on models of the German fighter biplane Albatros D.V.
Responsibility details are not available.
A waterslide decal intended for a realistic rendering of the laminated wooden propeller on models of the Albatros D.V fighter in 1:48 scale. A transparent carrier film with a printed grain pattern lets you reach a convincing wood appearance without painting. It is not a kit but a small refining accessory.
The Albatros D.V was one of the main German fighter biplanes of the end of the First World War. It was powered by an inline Mercedes engine and the machine was marked out by an elegant, aerodynamically clean plywood fuselage. The propellers of aircraft of that period were glued up from several layers of different woods, so they formed a characteristic wavy pattern, and it is exactly that which this decal reproduces.
First paint the propeller with a base color in a light wood shade and overcoat the surface to a gloss. Dip the decal briefly in lukewarm water, slide it off the backing and apply it to the propeller blade; draw the excess water off and use a decal softener so that the film clings perfectly to the shape. Overcoating the decal before use and again once it is dry is recommended, to strengthen it and to unify the sheen.
This is a decal on its own. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
